A brief history about us and how we got our dogs
At the age of 13 Martin had his first Siberian Husky: Matanuska's Little Snow White Taku, short Whitey. Whitey was a female and 8 years old when she came to Martin. Her bloodlines are: Igloo Pak and Anadyr. Half a year later Martin obtained a 5-year-old male Husky from Sonja Van Laar (Meijer), with the name Rijiska's Suntar Imera, short Suntar. Bloodlines are: Anadyr. Whitey and Suntar died at the age of 10 and 11 years, respectively. Shortly after Whitey died Martin obtained 7-year-old Natascha (no official papers, but also Anadyr bloodline), who also died at the age of 11 years.
Between the age of 12 and 16 years Martin had intense contact with Sonja van Laar (Meijer) - almost every weekend he was there, helping her with training the dogs to cleaning the dogyards. Sonja (and Tom ) had at that time a good reputation in the Siberian Husky world (at least in Netherland, Germany, Swiss, Austria ); several times she won the WM (World championship)or ended second or third place. The bloodlines of their dogs are Anadyr and later they even had their own bloodline (Sotokaya of Nowaja Sibir).
Then came a time whitout any dogs - just work, study, work, study, finding a place to live, and .......Anita. But the Siberian Husky never left his mind and was always in the back of his mind (call of the wild, so to say:-) ).
When, in 1997, we moved from an appartment to a house with a small garden, we decided to have a Siberian Husky. Our first Husky was a 1˝-year-old male, called Suntar (the second). We took him from a family who couldn't have him anymore. As we don't have any papers about him we don't know his background, but it was told that he came from Belgium. Suntar is still with us.
After a short stay in the ‘new’ house, we moved again, later in 1997. It was again a little house, but the location was better as it was close to the woods. This allowed us to take a female puppy from a Dutch Siberian Husky kennel (Keltif kennel) in 1998; her name was (Keltif )Munya. Bloodlines are for the most part Igloo Pak and Alka Shan. In spite of the appropriate vaccinations she got hepaptitus at the age of about 10 weeks. However, with a good medicine and much money we could save her - but her liver never recovered entirely. This is the cause of her small size, but she still is alive in 2007! |
